I'm still at the beginning where I'm tasked with saving Yukiko.

It's sooooo repetitive already. I get it. I have to save that person before fog happens. I get it. Stop reminding me every single freaking day. And every social link you go through, at the end, there's like a sentence or two of recap.

Does it get any better?

yes. It got better as soon as you started the game

it's a ridiculously overwritten game and no that doesn't get better, but the gameplay remains super fun if not more so the further you get, and the overall story and payoff are 100% worth it.

Gotcha. The game play is pretty boring so far too, with just auto attacking beating almost everything. But that's to be expected as it's still the beginning of the game.

The actual plot is hilariously shallow. Dont put much expectation into the mystery.

Where the game shines is in the characters interactions and development, and seeing how their character arcs all get resolved.

I played through it on the highest difficulty that doesn't instant game over you (so the second highest I guess?) if you die and instead lets you restart on that floor. I figured reducing the tedium was fair since it wouldn't actually make the fights easier. That said the game was still really easy and I rarely died, so I imagine the lower difficulties are extremely easy.

i guess it picks up when you have most of your party. unfortunately that is some hours in. if you aren't engrossed in the world/story/characters or whatever it probably isn't the game for you.
