The soloution was to wait until the curve was on a downward trajectory for at least 2 months -- like what the health experts had already been saying. Many states were reopening, while the curve was still plateauing.

thd plan was to close down, get the curve down, and implement public service initiatives

The solution was to shut down early, provide payments to citizens to support them like all the civilized countries did, and to actually stay at home, socially distance, etc. We failed because we're a shithole.

I've barely left the house for 3 months. How much more can you possibly want? The only solution is a vaccine. Mask and social distancing won't 100 percent stop it. So matter what you do its goinig to spike. We are literally testing more people now.

I was talking about us as a country. Its great that you didn't leave the house but did you miss that people were not staying at home and even protesting the order? Also the shutdown did buy time for a bit, and if done properly, would have allowed us to greatly reduce the number of contagious people.

More covid cases number is meaningless. More tests will always result in more cases. The only numbers that matter are hospitalizations and deaths. Quarantines were never meant to nor was claimed to eradicate the virus, they were to not overwhelm the hospitals. Hospitals are laying off people.
When you flatten a curve, the mass under the curve stays the same, its just elongated and lasts longer.

Some of my friends who got laid off are back to work "part time" right now, so they still get their unemployment check but are also working. Then once the unemployment bonus stops, they will get hired full time by the company and get a fat signing bonus equal to all the unpaid work they did during this unemployment time.

There was no solution? The solution was simple. DON'T OPEN UP TOO SOON. No one sane was saying don't open up at all, you don't need to have a master plan if your end game is still opening up. Look at all of Europe as the open up, they got they got the virus under control first. That's all anyone asked, get it under control and go down the slope then open up. Hell we've seen this work in this country with states like New York. Have your openings be data driven. States need to have a large number of tests every day and they need tons of tracers to track down everyone who came into contact with an infected person. Once again I point to New York which is doing 60k tests every single day and they have 30k tracers all over the state.

This idea that you need a master plan is just nonsense. No one had a solution? The solution we had was working. We didn't need another solution. We saw the solution work in Italy, the biggest hot spot before us. We saw it in France, Germany, and Spain. The fucking gameplan was handed to us, and we ignored it.
