Did they ever say a date? I always assumed it just went along with the general publication date (since Sorcerrer's stone was in 1998 and Harry goes 7 years later would place the Battle of Hogwarts in 2005. Or just a floating timeline to match the kids growing up with the books, meaning Battle of Hogwarts was in 2007, regardless of when he actually started there.

I maintain that Deathly Hallows was the best book i ever read. Not because it was that good, but due to how i felt when reading it.
