Well, you see, if you cant choose between 50 different brands of an item that are the same exact thing, at the expense of universal healthcare and various other social services, then youre not doing the freedom properly. Duh.

No one here has actually mentioned the basic premise of communism: a stateless society where workers communally own the means of production and other resources.

There are many different variations and schools of thought in communist ideology, quite a few of which have been exercised in authoritarian states. Socialism can be regarded as either a transitional system trying to achieve communism, or a separate system trying to achieve similar things without intending to abolish the state.

Cuba is a socialist country. Discussions of it are somewhat muddled by decades of propaganda. It's factually a) far less brutal than the dictatorship it replaced, and b) one of the best places to live in Latin America (which is incredible considering it's been embargoed by the United States since its revolution ).

Perfectly workable, but the upper limit is going to be about 30 people.

Or maybe Hy-Vee.

The end-goal of communism is to have no government at all, though. A stateless society.

According to one of my political science professors, communism implies the seizing of the means of production. Socialism does not.

Communism has worked out extremely well for Kerala, India. They rank exceedingly high in various standards of living compared to other states of similar wealth.

In the first place so much of why socialism and communism failed in parts of Latin America and Asia is due to US intervention. It's absurd that these are dirty words now but most people kinda just shrug their shoulders at the millions of people killed just to keep a relative few rich.
