Organizing the pictures on my phone so thought I'd share some of the tumblr ones. Dunno how these phone screen caps will look on desktop but here goes.

I actually know a handful of Tumblr "famous" people (including the one in the OP), and it's funny because she's right, being Tumblr famous is legitimately pointless and doesn't impact their life at all. Meanwhile being something like Twitter/IG "famous" is an actual chore.

Ayeee, tumblr porn is still the best format for porn sharing I've seen.

It's funny how the porn side of tumblr is still a thing too. Like the accounts are flagged so it can be hard to look at them (at some point "Safe Mode" stopped having a switch and just became greyed out), but I can still log into my NSFW account and see my old faves posting.

Not to mention the porn bots are still a thing. Will make my next post about them.

I've tried multiple times but the only way I can seem to load NSFW tumblrs is to open them in a sideframe that occupies like 20% of the screen, it's so wack.

There's no way around it. Blogs that get flagged as NSFW are set to "hidden" and aren't viewable if you aren't signed in.

There is no other way. When a blog is set to hidden/"dashboard-only" then on desktop it'll only ever pop-up in the side frame. The side frame basically simulates the mobile app (but is much worse in terms of functionality), so you might as well just use the mobile app.

Regular blogs can flip the setting for whether their blog does this or not but all NSFW-flagged blogs are locked into it.

Not really though. Yahoo cracked down just enough to get the tumblr app back on the iTunes store, and then never finished the job. That could be because they lost at least 30% of the user base as a result, but regardless, they never wiped out the NSFW stuff.

Maybe Automatic will crack down more, but it's been about a year now and they haven't even gotten rid of the pornbots.

They "cracked down" on what existed at the time but got far, far lazier as time went on.

And I'm pretty sure the "Make a post and then edit it after posting it" bug has never been fixed either.

As mentioned, tumblr never really got rid of the porn bots. They do still try to moderate them though, which leads to the intrepid bot owners changing their strategy on how to reply to popular posts. This means there are different bot sagas such as posting hand emojis. Once tumblr caught on and banned those bots, new bots started using heart emojis, creating a most beautiful moment in time where tumblr was the most wholesome place on the internet.

Anyway the current bot trend is to pretend to be sugar daddies.

On tumblr, users who follow each other are called mutuals. Not sure if the site itself still says how long you've been mutuals with someone, it doesn't seem to show on the app anyway.

My last girlfriend was a popular leftist Twitter user and she was targeted by some nasty people. She once showed me a thread they had on a different site where they were circulating pictures of her house and her real name, scary shit.

Someone doesn't like you on tumblr, the worst you'll see is some Halo 2 era edgy trash talk, and even that has gotten less likely as the userbase shrinks.

the only Tumblr famous person I know is a huge furry who still posts NSFW on his blog, dude has a couple of posts with 6 figure notes. And the funny thing is, I don't even know him from Tumblr - I met him six years before I even joined the website, on an anime chatroom. Didn't even know he was a furry for years.
