Mackenzie Bezos, who acquired a 4% stake in Amazon after the couple split, has a net worth of $56.9 billion and climbed to No. 12 in Bloomberg's ranking. She recently leapfrogged Alice Walton and Julia Flesher Koch to become the world's second-wealthiest woman, and now trails only L'Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt Meyers.

Good for her.

For the money, yes, but I wouldn't brag about being the 2nd richest woman in the world who only got the money because of a divorce.

And the L'Oreal heiress is only rich because she is an heiress? Not looking good for the top two spots.

Bud if she didnt need a platform to sell her book amazon may have never existed.

She played a huge role in growing that fortune.

You arent wrong.

I cant imagine being like kevin oleary with 3 or 4 billion and openly stating your only goal each day is to go to bed richer than you woke up. Its like being proud of being a total piece of shit.

Well it's a little more complicated than that, the biggest issue with world hunger isn't food cost, it's everything around it. Countries with high malnourishment lack the infrastructure to transfer food, the facilities to store and preserve the food, and the institutions to protect and distribute the food.

You know what could fund that infrastructure? Hint: it rhymes with honey.

it was a rhetorical statement. No one in the world deserves to have that much more wealth than anyone else.

This is basically what it's going to be like in general. Won't surprise me if in 20 years the list is just gonna several members from a few families.

It's gonna take a lot more than that to put down sustainable infrastructure for longer than a very short while. Otherwise we'd probably already have done it.

Youre not wrong. But i was speaking in the sense of general billionaires not just her specifically.

Theres more than enough money to make it happen.

it never will because money is freedom and power and most people suck and want more just to have it regardless of wether they even use it.

True.

I just was expecting a 'ackshually Bezos wasn't rich before this' if I made a more definitive statement about it.
