I was about to make this topic.

Nice.

It's incredible how this guy can provide his viewers with so much content filled with many coherent pointinby squeezing them in just five minutes.

Now compare THAT to these half hour (maybe even an hour) long talk show hosts padded with mere fluff.

Schulz offers a good lesson. Don't trust comedic people that made their bones in Hollywood. Trust the guy that works the clubs and built his way to a bigger career organically, and has their ear to the street. These guys know which way the wind blows. When these comedians were saying that Trump would win in 2016, their woke pals were stringing them up and bashing them. It does not mean they like him and want him to win. It means that they perceive the climate more accurately than people who are stuck in the NYC/LA world.

The mainstream doesn't have time for good NY club comics like Andrew Schulz and other guys in his peer group like Mark Normand, Joe List, Sam Morrill, Chris DiStefano, etc. Killer comics that don't fit what the networks want to promote. Some of these guys have been self-releasing specials on Youtube and they're getting good views.

Dont forget Tim Dillon even though he defected to LA.

Seriously though, the LA scene might be more tight knit but theres a serious chasm in talent between the two

Tim Dillon is the ****ing man. I saw him in Montreal in 2016 at a Big Jay Oakerson show and he's shot up like a rocket ever since.

I like the NY sensibility more, but I want for them to have some of that LA success. Those guys' subscriptions are bonkers. And most of them are not necessarily better.

Right? The best comic in LA is Burr and he's not even an LA comic. The fact that comics like D'elia and Schaub are(were) so highly regarded as "murderers" and that they have huge followings is a joke.

I agree with a lot of what Andrew Schulz goes on about, but I hate his type of confidence. He seems like someone who would have a hard time walking back stuff after new evidence surfaced because it would be embarrassing after how cocky he was. He'd probably just not bring it up again. Or smirk about it when it comes up but mostly keep quiet. I definitely prefer Charlamagne, Charlamagne seems a lot less likely to avoid correcting himself.

it's my main issue with him. he's getting a pretty big head and it gets really eyerolling to listen to. especially when it's on flagrant 2 because he kicked off the one dude that would challenge him.

Yeah I respect him as a comic, and he does it the right way absolutely. He's on the right side of the 'woke divide' in the entertainment industry. But his vibe is too young and urban for me. He's not much older than me but I don't fully gel with his stuff. I don't watch much NBA and I don't buy Jordans and other hypebeast s***. I like other guys in his peer group though. They're more my speed of what I look for.

eh I don't buy this sentiment but ok. he's quick witted and actually "sharp" in the way that other comedians aren't despite being promoted that way. his delivery is fluid and he's a cock but this seems like being uncomfortable because you don't think he's earned his confidence. and I'll be the first to criticize when he says some stupid shit but he's been spot-on so far.

I can't say I agree tbh. Honestly, I've always found it pretty problematic that a lot of these characters were played by actors who weren't of the same race or ethnicity. Even downright a little racist. For multiple reasons, I think it's good that entertainment companies are stepping up and putting an end to this, not just because it's almost akin to blackface/brownface, but also it gives greater opportunities for non-white actors and actresses to land roles.

Not to mention these are ENTERTAINMENT companies. The fuck are they supposed to do about systemic police brutality?
You do know that America is basically run by companies, right? If your corporate overlords wanted to actually make a difference they could and would.

Why?

What's the problem with a black guy voicing Samurai Jack?

Or a black guy voicing Darth Vader?

Or a white guy voicing Dr. Hibbert?

This is something I've seriously never understood why it matters, as long as the voice fits the character.

Could it maybe be better if Kratos was voiced by a Greek guy? Maybe, but both of his VAs are great. (Hopefully that doesn't turn into were with all this going on)

Instead of just being ashamed of what you did and saying how bad it was, I wish they just phased things out in a dignified way. Yeah, no show is going to do Apu the same way in the present climate, but you also don't have to put the character on the shelf. Find a creative way to acknowledge the past and just move forward. Slowly phase him out or something. I don't want to hear how wrong Hank Azaria thinks he was.
