bit better than the original. More mature, better humor, better animation. I heard it was better, but I'm surprised by how much. I loved the original, hope I like this just as much.

I felt the opposite for a few of those l but I think the main issue it has is that it assumed you watched the first series and sort of gives you the abridged version of many of the series most poignant moments.

But really the second half where the major changes take place are the bread and butter of the second adaptation. It had some neat ideas , I wonder if an an ultimate edition could be spliced from both of them.

I felt the same minus some changes here and there. Mainly Kimlee sp? Splicing both together wouldn't work out thanks to the cast changes though. Or at least it would be a very Frankensteins monster/sally type affair. I did greatly enjoy a few of the new characters. It threw me how a couple scenes are left the same from the original.

Pretty much. I would personally say that Brotherhood is better overall than the '03 series, but only if you watch '03 first to get the full experience for those early bits that Brotherhood powers through too quickly to appreciate. Brotherhood's pacing for the shared content is pretty much perfect as a recap, especially for somebody who watched the original series several years prior, but it's too fast for a first viewing.

I rewatched the 2003 series recently; still prefer that to Brotherhood, although I do love both.

Better quality animation for sure, since it came several years later. The actual art styles are a matter of preference. I think the original is more or equally mature, and does comedy better (Brotherhood does sudden art style shifts for funny scenes that can take you out of the moment). The original anime focused more on the human drama than the overall plot and Brotherhood kind of flipped it around.

The homunculi in general I feel were better done in the first anime, especially their origin. And while the first show's plot got a little weird at the end, Brotherhood just goes straight up shounen and gets a bit safe with the ending.

I know that. I already finished the manga before finishing Brotherhood.
