Is the distrust of the media just so profound that people don't even believe the pandemic is real?

Our president openly called it a hoax for the first month of lockdown. He still does now but he's quieter about it.

Source: common sense.
I mean you keep saying that but the data has simply not shown this, most likely because the majority of those protesting were wearing masks. The protests here had sanitizing stations and people handing out masks

the last person to cite a source posted paragraphs from an article they didnt link that didnt provide any actual data.

obviously we know that protests have caused some spread of the virus, that is obvious when you have large crowds close together with many not wearing masks. we know that the recent spikes are not largely due to protests though, they are due to mass reopenings, especially with bars and resteraunts

Yeah, like I mentioned before, part of the problem is people acting like things are back to the way they were when they started to reopen places and not seeming to understand the reason for the lockdown was to try to reduce the spread. Not get rid of it completely.

someone who gets aids/hiv from someone who knows they have it isnt criminal when the afflicted person tells others they have it and the people make the conscious decision to expose themselves to it. that is what happened here. if you attend a covid party held by someone that tells you they have the virus it is completely on you and not the person with the virus.

this is pretty simple stuff

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/trump-coronavirus-rally-remark/

What's True
During a Feb. 28, 2020, campaign rally in South Carolina, President Donald Trump likened the Democrats' criticism of his administration's response to the new coronavirus outbreak to their efforts to impeach him, saying "this is their new hoax." During the speech he also seemed to downplay the severity of the outbreak, comparing it to the common flu.
What's False
Despite creating some confusion with his remarks, Trump did not call the coronavirus itself a hoax.

During a flurry of activity on his Twitter account, Trump retweeted a message from game show host Chuck Woolery that claimed everyone is lying about the coronavirus as part of a plot to sabotage the economy and hurt Trumps reelection campaign.
The most outrageous lies are the ones about Covid 19, wrote Woolery in the message promoted by Trump. Everyone is lying. The CDC, Media, Democrats, our Doctors, not all but most ,that we are told to trust. I think its all about the election and keeping the economy from coming back, which is about the election. Everyone was lying, or at the very least, wrong. Many Liberal news outlets told the American people not to worry. Doctors told the American people not to worry. The CDC told the American people not to worry. The WHO told the world not to worry.

Asked about the retweet at a briefing later Monday, White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said that the notion of the tweet was to point out the fact that when we use science, we have to use it in a way that is not political.

Also, I read the rest of that article. Clear anti-Trump. Bringing up the Russia nonsense in an article not even related to it. Impeach Trump if he did something wrong -- oh wait, they tried that, turned out he was fine.

Yes, BLM protesters have developed an immunity to it unlike everyone else in the world.

Give me a break. Thousands of people protested shoulder to shoulder, many not wearing masks, and you expect anyone with a brain to believe that they didn't spread Covid? Not only that, but the Liberal media and Democratic governors want to blame businesses and Trump and Trump rallies for any Covid related spikes or issues.

Whether those other groups were mistaken or downplayed things doesn't matter, since what you disputed was Trump calling it a "hoax". He recently did so, and therefor you are wrong.

As for the article, I believe showing a pattern of behavior of a person is appropriate (regularly using the word hoax) as that's how you understand statements - not in isolation. And yes, he was impeached, but senate Republicans/McConnell stated they would coordinate his defense. That's not the same thing as "he was fine", unless you meant bribing jurors/judges is fine.

If you are referring to the press secretary's statement, it doesn't answer anything as the original tweet didn't say anything about "when we use science, we have to use it in a way that is not political.". Trump's retweeting still stands as he famously stated he "sees everything" (in regards to what he tweets).

I find it a great way to let a person clarify their message! Sorry you don't find it works for you.

You avoided answering the question though - do you believe you (and others who discount it) "have a brain", while the people who have studied diseases/social transmission etc for years don't?

And yes, I can rebut you with them as Trump didn't enforce masks AND held his rally indoors.. look at how the numbers spiked! As for the "open up" protesters - there sure weren't that many masks at them, people in fact coughed intentionally on others. So sure - they probably were higher causes of spikes.

I'm sorry you feel " Health officials will bend the knee in order to not get canceled/prove how morally just they and their echo chambers are.". Feel free to disregard them and live on your own out in the wilderness I suppose?

Already answered the first part. I believe that their biases should be taken into account when they hypocritically advocate for one over the other when they have an obligation to the health and safety of every American.

There are numerous videos of protesters and rioters -- athough I understand this isn't about the rioters -- not wearing masks, walking together in the hundreds, sometimes many of them shoulder to shoulder. How can you continue to say that those protesters didn't spread it and there's no proof to say otherwise, then look at another large gathering and say the opposite, probably due to political reasons?

Lastly, that's not "how I feel." That's just the way it is.

You didn't answer, just stated "Never did I say only I have a brain". So (for the third time) do you believe that anybody that *doesn't* see it your way doesn't have a brain? And yes - absolutely, biases should be taken into account when evaluating a source. Here we don't have evidence of a bias other than your circular reasoning ("they didn't conclude what I did, therefore they have a bias.... they have a bias, and that's why they are an echo chamber /came to a different conclusion/etc.

There are numerous videos of protesters and rioters -- athough I understand this isn't about the rioters -- not wearing masks, walking together in the hundreds, sometimes many of them shoulder to shoulder. If this isn't about the rioters, why even bring them up? Are you (in your words) trying to move goalpost?
I *didn't* say there was NO spread from the protests, I said the spread was minimal. And I can say that based on studies from people who have are much more well versed in this than I. I already stated why I look at the two groups differently and didn't mention politics once. Are you now saying that I'm biased and can't be trusted?

Lastly, that's not "how I feel." That's just the way it is.

Until you provide proof of intimation/invalid methodology/statistical errors, it's still your feelings. And again, facts don't care about your feelings.
