It just sounds really insecure to me. What you're really saying is you aren't ashamed to be the race you are or where you're from. Thankfully my parents didn't have me to be a specific race either. It would be kind of weird knowing they would only love me if my skin was the same color as theirs. Which I'm a mutt, so it's not the same color as either of them. The country thing, I never really even got a shot at because all I ever seen was the worst people being super crazy about America. Rarely anybody Id ever respect. Particularly in the US. That pride doesn't mean that I think my race is better than yours, it just means that I have ties to my culture and I also share the hardships that the people have endured. I have friends who have Chicano or Latino pride. I also have friends who have Irish and Scottish pride. I don't either. And though I respect people who do earn those and think they deserve to flex it. I don't not respect myself for not targeting those achievements. I always just focused on how I treated others and how I could improve myself mentally to be even more helpful to myself and those close to me. Stuff like that can be enough imo. If you're not a problem to those around you and you make a steady effort to improve their lives when you can, I think you deserve to feel good about yourself. Even if that's just stuff like being there when they need someone to talk to when you preferred to do something else. Or letting others get their way because you wanted them to have their moment and could move out the way for them. So I don't have any reason to be prideful of overcoming stuff because of it. Sure some people in America hate Mexicans, but I never personally ran into them. I did run into many people racist against the black community tho. I read it thinking of Americans that use it to try and flex superiority of some sort. They seem the most relevant atm by a long shot. Everyone else here is showing exactly how much they don't respect America even more lately. It's not a respectable place to be proud of. Like I'm exactly the same. I have a Mexican side of the family with the generation above us all knowing spanish. And them bitches didn't even attempt to teach us spanish. I don't see how that's on me lol. I ended up getting into hip hop and black culture. And I never really stopped. Now Im interested in everyone's experience in America. I feel like splitting my focus on anything outside of America would just make me way more scatterbrained. Anyway, I've pretty much always been content with it. Like I said, my family dropped the ball with sharing their cultures, so that's on them. They also don't resent me for not being into it.
