I don't like movies. Most were actually forced on me by school or my uncle saying I really need to see Fast and Furious Battle for Mega Raptor Airplane Race of Infinity or whatever.

I do, but idk if I like the acting in older movies, like movies from the 60s and before.

I mostly like them for their resourcefulness, and by that I mean set design and practical effects

I love old movies when I see them. I just am not usually the kind of person who seeks out movies to watch, so my lack of watching them is mainly due to a lack of exposure.

I mostly only seen stuff like, Godzilla, the universal monsters, some Kurosawa stuff. The mainstream old stuff. >_>

i dunno i kinda like the new hollywood demarcation. plus stylistically speaking pre-code wasn't all that off from later 30s stuff outside of maybe a bit more camera movement as movies got used to dealing with new sound equipment.

Yeah but you value things like stylistic touches and inventive techniques across all aspects of filmmaking.

I value if they allow nudity and promote decadence.

Speaking of sex and decadence and the like, the 1933 film Ecstasy was a hot item in its day because it was the first non-pornographic film to portray intercourse and female orgasm (though it never showed nudity, alas).

fun fakt

There are a lot of popular movies from the 70s onwards that I still havent seen so I mostly watch those. Yes cool new stuff comes out all the time so it feels like I barely make any progress with catching up on the movies that most people talk about. I watch pre-70s movies sometimes but the dialogue and acting usually feel too hammy compared to newer movies

I used to not appreciate older films much, but as I got more into film, I realized that I only thought that old movies were boring because I was watching the wrong old movies.

The original To Be Or Not To Be, Sweet Smell of Success, 12 Angry Men, To Kill A Mockingbird, anything Marx Brothers? All still hold up incredibly well.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly is one of my all-time favorites and it came out way before I was born. It's not pre-1960 but that's close enough right?

Oh you said pre 1970. Yeah I've seen and enjoy plenty.

Actual good movies were 1800 stuff. You just need a really high iq to enjoy it.
