What Halal truly means is... no pork/alcohol .
I have seen road side stalls operating next to open sewer.

Halal is just a way of preparing a dish using ingredients allowed in the Islamic dietary laws.
You can have Halal Chinese,Italian,Japanese version of the food.

No literally halal can be damn near anything.

Saying you had halal and not saying what it was is the equivalent of saying i had fast food what do you think of fast food?

I was able to guess exactly what he was talking about in like 2 seconds without having to badger him about the proper use of the word halal.

I would also like to act smugly superior.

Its not though. Most meats can be halal.

Most anything can be halal.

not initially specifying what actual food it was is absurdly vague.

I wasnt.

To me halal is the expensive version of numerous foods at a grocery store. I shop in a tiny ass town and the halal selection at the singular no frills is huge and in no way a specific dish.

I knew he meant halal. Thats it.

i have never known it as a food type.

Its a food that was butchered and/or prepared in a way it can be eaten and comply with religious values.

Its not a specific thing.

I mean, he even described what he ate in the first post, but I guess if you haven't been to nyc or london that typical style of fast food might not be familiar to you. In any case, I'm sure anyone who did not know what halal meant before entering this topic has been made well aware by now so you can rest easy friend.

why is halal acceptable? Its just plain animal cruelty. Is it only acceptable because a certain religious group practices this and we wouldnt want to upset them? When has that ever been a good idea?

eh, to me murdering animals is murdering animals. if youre ok with some of it youre ok with all of it. hmm. maybe i will try out vegetarianism. i dont think animals should be killed or even kept as pets so i guess ethically it doesnt make sense for me to keep eating meat. food for thought

Halal in this context is a kind of food cart food found in American cities, guys. I'm not even American and I know this

Plus if anyone has the right to get up in TCs face it'd be me, the actual Muslim on this board lol

Also TC, have you considered what kind of Indian food you're getting? Cause the Pakistani version will taste better 100% guaranteed ;P

Obviously what "Halal" means is just a method of preparing food, but you're ignorant as hell if you don't know that there are a shit ton of restaurants and food trucks that advertise themselves as a "halal place." It was obvious as fuck what kind of place TC was talking about. You can inform him without getting all condescending while simultaneously displaying how poorly traveled you are.

Also, Ethiopian food is disgusting based on the time I've tried it. And Pho and Bahn Mi have been amazing almost every time I've had them. I've had disappointing Pho just once.

Go to Chennai Dosas or Mithaas in Hicksville for vegetarian. There's also Diwan and Kirin Palace for meat. Not sure if Godavari/Spice Lounge is still around. I love the Tikka and Chicken 65 these restaurants have.

Hell, not sure of any of these have reopened or survived covid.

Try the original Halal Guys. Obviously the original cart on 53rd and 6th in Manhattan is the best, but there's a franchise right over in Levittown off the Wantagh Pkwy.

The entire "halal" thing people are freaking out about comes from the phenomenon The Halal Guys popularized. So "I'm about to get some Halal" refers to a platter with meat over rice. "Chicken and rice" is another thing people call it.

Hamza and Medina is also very good in Hicksville. There's a truck on 107 and then and a sit down version up by Ikea.

Damn, now I want some.

Yeah, shit varies so much. Some places are weak as hell, but some are insane. Still can't beat the intensity of The Halal Guys. That's the only one where I only put a little because it's insanely hot. Best hot sauce imo.
