Credit score barely means **** anyway. Like, having a good one pays out marginal benefits compared to how having a bad one can totally screw you.

Mine fluctuates 30 points depending on credit card balances, which I pay off each month.

Somebody young, broke and with little foresight or ambition though would have little reason to care about any of these.....

Also credit scores varies depending on whichever one you mainly use. So you're have to round out the average. My FICO is like 726 currently, and my transunion and Equifax scores are around 756-757. So my average is probably 740 or so.

Yes, that is correct, someone young and without ambition or foresight would not care about their credit score.

Of course, then again, someone young and without ambition or foresight would not care about much...so

I don't get it

As someone who approves mortgage loans for a living, no it does not mean nearly as much as you think it does.

Again, a high credit score does not do all the work for you that a low one does against you. But you're some kid on GFAQs, so keep telling me about what you think you know about financing.

Mine is 716, but it still shows delinquency from an account more than 5 years old and havent missed a single payment through various accounts since. So somethings Im still getting denied, though I have a house and 2 cars under my name all bought the past 3 years

Here's what I understand: Credit scores matter for rate eligibility and that's it. Depending on the lender, once you pass the a certain credit (typically around 740 or higher), you qualify for the best rates.

Aside from the rates, the biggest thing that matters is your debt to income ratio, your loan to value ratio of the thing you're trying to get a loan for, and the assets you have.

Yep, you're right. That's why I was saying having a really high credit score doesn't really matter. It's a factor used against people more often than being in their favor, contrary to the stupid commercials where someone with a good credit score goes into a bank and they start waiting hand and foot for them.
