So, what do you think?

I think I prefer this for a dwarf theme song, even though it was originally a joke:

As much as I want to say something like: "Wait. There is a BETTER version of Diggy Diggy Hole?! And here I thought I was "stuck" with this! <link to other youtube here>"

A little too metal/shouty for me. I'm not very good at musical terms around that area so yeah, don't yell at me too much if it is not actually "metal" or whatever (note: TOO much, you can still correct me as per the current meta with full force, just stay polite by internet standards, so you don't have to worry about silverware orientation at least)

For those wondering (who don't already know) the original Diggy Diggy Hole cover is:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ytWz0qVvBZ0

And well, the TRUE original is... um, an out of tune minecraft player whose character is named Honeydew, part of the now more (but not especially) famous "Yogscast." Who just randomly came up with the first phrase of the song, during a random episode (and yes this became famous enough for someone to make a proper song out of it). Who (the yogscast, specifically) have basically forgotten their origins frankly, but hey. At least they occasionally remember the red matter incident, right?

But seriously. Yeah. I... just don't take as much value from shouting words as some. Likely my loss.

I WILL MAKE AN EXCEPTION THIS TIME BECAUSE IT IS DIGGY DIGGY HOLE.

But only this once.

Edit: Again, because personal opinion. And opinion says I cannot decry their great choice of instrumentals to accompany the shouting. Just thought I should mention this before I get judged and all that.

Sounds like the song in the topic post is heavily inspired by the Misty Mountains song

The original song is pretty cool. A bit slow to pick up and lasts too long, for my personal tastes but otherwise its good and fititng for dwarves.

I like the diggy diggy hole one better though.

I didn't actually know there were different versions or which one was the first. I did know it came from that minecraft video. it's just the version that shows up now and then on some trackmania servers.

it's fine whichever you prefer, but I would say something like: metal seems like the perfect genre to me for a dwarf song about digging.

Was literally going to post this the moment I realized what the first video was.

I'd agree somewhat. I'm not adverse to metal in general, and I'd agree with Sahuagin that metal feels like THE most appropriate genre for dwarven music... but as someone who tends to like more melody and fluid harmonizing to music, I definitely prefer the Yogs version of Diggy Diggy Hole over the Wind Rose one.

That being said, apparently Wind Rose's entire catalogue of songs is all dwarven/Tolkien inspired, so there's a lot there if you're interested in that sort of thing.

I definitely heard that in there as well. Ironically, I'd kind of say the flavor of it falls somewhere between the Hobbit/live-action version (that most people today are going to be familiar with), and the "original" version from the Rankin-Bass cartoon in the 70s (which is the one I know better/prefer):

Makes me hope the next adaptation includes more of the songs from the books.
