-Trump is pushing back against Mitch's $40,000 threshold because he doesn't want to look bad for promising one potentially better than the first a couple weeks ago

-Trump is refusing to sign anything that doesn't include a payroll tax holiday

-The GOP has zero interest in extending $600 unemployment benefits

-The main theme of the bill Mitch and his cohorts are drafting as we speak centers around liability protection for businesses if they are sued by employees who contracted Covid-19, this will be retroactive all the way to last December.

Trump is probably trying to push it back to as close to October as possible. That way he can get it through right near the election and act like he was always pushing for it.

On one hand, completely screwing over the vast majority of Americans and leaving them desperate and without anything to lose would probably have some actual consequences and cause changes.

On the other hand, it's terrifying to think of what all the chaos could look like and what impact it could have on the future of America at large.

Absolutely, this is just anecdotal evidence but at the company I work at I know multiple people in my department alone that are vocal Trump supporters. They have openly stated they will vote Biden out of spite if Trump and the GOP are truly setting the threshold this low causing them to miss out.

Might as well make the stimulus checks 2k with all the money these businesses are getting or saving in these bills.
