oh and speaking of heated seats, my 2000 acura tl apparently has heated seats, but they dont work. its been warm the entire time we've had it (got it late last year) so ive never bothered to fix it

i wonder where i start...

I would check the fuses first. Then the cables.
If it's the heating elements then you might have to replace the seats.
