Here is somebody wondering why anybody would compare the opening weekend sales of Ghost of Tsushima and Paper Mario (which launched on the same day). I posted this because it reminded me of the constant amount of Redditors going "But why would you compare two games from different genres???" during GOTD2.

I just wanted to let you all know that this is still a thing.

I mean I get it, we're in the middle of summer and these are the only 2 major releases. What's kinda missing is that despite 2nd place, Origami King is tracking to be the best selling Paper Mario game.

I think if the two games had launched years apart, that thought absolutely makes sense, but they launched on the same day, were the number one and two games that week, and were "competing" first party releases.

Anyway, despite the fact that Ghost of Tsushima was well clear I wouldn't be surprised if Origami King does better in the long run. Better than Super Paper Mario without digital means we could see numbers in the 5+ million range. Quite the comeback from Color Splash!

Switch is a desert so every game that does come out selos gangbusters. PS meanwhile is flooded with games so people are not rushing to get the latest one. Unless it's huge like TLOU

Ghost actually beat Paper Mario though

and it was sold out and there were plenty of Paper Mario copies when I went to Best Buy, got neither though

PS4 is almost as slow going tbh when you look solely at exclusives

The news story is about Tsushima selling over 4 times as many copies as Paper Mario.

I game almost exclusively on PC and only own a PS4 so I can begrudgingly buy exclusives to play at slightly above 1/5th my preferred framerate.

I feel like, as the other social media platforms have gotten far worse over the past ~5 years, YouTube comments have actually gotten better. Life's funny like that.

"Average" is kind of a weird word on Reddit and Twitter since the quality of the comments varies wildly depending on what circles you keep up with. Tik Tok certainly seems to have a solid claim to the stupidity throne if the content that reaches beyond its containment zone is any indicator of the average.

The Switch actually gets a lot more exclusives. And it definitely isnt a desert.

If anything the Switch and the PS4 have too many games. Go look at the eshop or the PSN store. Theyre a mess of thousands of games, most pretty bad. There is something to be said for a smaller, curated lineup.

Reddit is a weird place where subs can be so vastly different that they might as well be different universes.

but video game subs would be pretty far down yeah
