I would guess the response from radicals would be along the lines of "shaming people on social media makes it clear that certain behaviors won't be tolerated, and the more people we came make afraid to spread their hateful views the better."

That's the look of a man who's every best effort and work to improve the world a little bit is being systematically torn down by a petulant manchild who can't get over a grudge he invented in his own head

Systematically is the wrong word. Chaotically, maybe. Or moronically.

I remember when this came out. The chunk cut out fits better with the previous context earlier in his speech and it fits better when you realize that these people he's speaking to want to become involved in politics.

Remember the message of this isn't "don't be woke" or "don't call people out". The message is that if you're going to be involved in politics and activism, those can't be your only plays. The best activists in the past and right now do their best by setting action to their activism. Having an end goal and having an ideal to strive towards, rather than just being against the other guy.

Also there's a caveat to this, because you shouldn't go too far in your seeking to understand those against you that you end up not getting anything done at all. Obama is a good speaker, but he's not perfect. Just ask him how trying to be bipartisan worked for him.

Obama is all about growth but he shits on all people who he perceives are not growing. Real growth is having compassion for all sorts of people and knowing where to step in and right from wrong.

The issue is Obama can be hypocrite sometimes himself as far as what that is. I get what he's saying and he's not wrong but he probably is in some way.

Obama is a progressive. He's just about common sense when doing it. Like it it isn't working then don't do it. There are hypocrties on both sides. I agree with him in that regard. Where supposed "woke" culture from the right and left and these groups just becomes ignorance.

Like if someone calls me out on my supposed bs when it's not and that's not working for you you should have the sense to try something else. Obama is probably on some other plane of thought but it's the same thing. People should have the sense to recognize what is woke and what isn't.

Obama was more of a moderate/centrist than he was a progressive.
