Fun Fact : The name "Sweden" is derived from the English word "Sweeten".

When Americans first discovered the Scandinavian country back in 1884, they thought the snow laying on the ground was sugar, hence the name.

It wouldn't be until the mid-1920s that some actually tried to eat the "sugary topography" only to discover that it was actually ground ice.

The funny thing is when people complain that kids shouldn't eat Cinnamon Toast Crunch because it is way to sugary, even though it has pretty much the same amount of sugar as cereals that pretend to be healthy, like Honey Nut Cheerios.

That part is nonsense. The country is named after the "sweetened turnip casserole", a dish where mashed turnips are cooked on low heat for hours, breaking the carbohydrates down to sugars. The dish and the local turnip variety were introduced to England in the 1700s, lending both the country and the vegetable their names.

the amount of sugar we have in general is disgustingly excessive, but especially so in breakfast foods. for a long time i bought the regular Quaker instant oatmeal flavor variety, then i noticed that each packet has like 12g of sugar. i also used to drink OJ every morning, then i realized that's basically just liquid sugar (delicious liquid sugar). i moved to low sugar oatmeal (4g vs 12g) and cut the OJ and i feel so much better in the morning. i no longer have that sugar drag / crash. feels good man.

The horrifying thing is that its sugar content is about average when compared to the sweet types of Cheerios, which people think are automatically healthy. Cinnamon Toast Crunch literally has sugar granules on it and its not even the worst one.

Cinnamon Toast Crunch and French Toast Crunch were two of my favorites before I started cutting out sugar.

Today, for breakfast, I scrambled some eggs and pan fried some breakfast sausage. Put them on a low-carb tortilla with a slice of cheese to make a breakfast burrito.

I don't generally like sweet cereals. When I do eat cereal, it's usually something like chex. If I want a sweater cereal, I'll go for raisin bran or honey bunches of oats.

While finishing a box of bran cereal I noticed that the bag was covered inside with an electrostatically charged coating of powdered sugar. Was this [sugar] really necessary?

[ Salt in cereal, usually added to keep the chewed mix from sticking to the insides of your mouth, is understandable. ]
