I've been playing in non-rated games for practice. he's rated 1800, by far the highest I've played. he immediately took an early lead but I was able to draw out an end game. eventually he promoted a pawn and with time running down I started evading. he got mad and waited to deliver the checkmate with another queen, lol. then he said "if you want to wait, you can wait." the thing is, he had mate in 2 moves like 5 different times without his second queen.
I think he must have gotten good by memorizing openings because I should have gotten creamed outright being down a piece after like 5 moves. first time I've seen the French defense. --- ... Copied to Clipboard!

he was mad because I didn't resign but he couldn't figure out how to complete a forced checkmate. I feel justified.

Is there some kind of stalemate rule when a guy is unable to put you in checkmate after a certain amount of moves?

French advance is one of my favorite openings as black because people like to do it at low levels but without very careful play they will lose either the pawn on d4 or b2
