Do you think we will achieve a technological singularity in your lifetime?

And if we do achieve technological singularity, what do you think that means for humanity? Will we continue existing as is with artificial intelligence "help"? Will humanity be wiped out by artificial intelligence? Will we need to hybridize with machines to survive? Or something else? Post your theories!

In all likelihood, nothing. If an AI were beneficial and people were aware of it influencing society they would still be skeptical and rebel against it. If an AI were malevolent there is no advantage in an outright attack against humans. The best way to kill humans is to subtly manipulate things and let humans destroy themselves. Likewise the best way to help humans to let them think they're responsible for their own accomplishments.

Humanity would need to survive that long. What's the current estimate for the singularity again? 2035? Hmm...

Singularity already exists though. I use it instead of docker because it has better HPC compatibility

Wait what. You know what docker is? Docker works perfectly fine in HPC.

Not saying it won't "work" if were to exist on the system. Both HPC systems I've used disallow docker because of security issues (requiring root access) while supporting Singularity without qualms.

I think we're already a lot closer to the singularity than people think. Probably within this decade
