Obviously. But to suggest that Trump has done enough to solve that problem and paint that as a positive outcome of his presidency is pretty naive. What's Trump has done to be "tough on China" amounts pretty much purely to optics. He's done nothing to actually combat their flagrant human rights abuses, the tariffs he did enact were just all over the place and largely arbitrary (despite having the power to combat rights abuses and the wages that have led to outsourcing, if he'd applied the concept properly), he's done nothing to punish American corporations that continue to do most of their maunfacturing there, he personally has manufacturing done there (perhaps the most egregious point), he's completely dropped the ball on exerting pressure to keep the wet markets that produced SARS and Covid-19 (among others) shut down... Yeah, he's verbally criticized China on a few occasions and made a few token efforts to look like he's doing something, but he's done basically nothing to actually get tough with them and try to make real change. He's just done the bare minimum to convince the disenfranchised American manufacturing class that the outsourcing problem might change if he gets another term, when in fact it's extremely unlikely that will happen so long as he's personally depending on such outsourcing.

Now, would Hillary have done better? Probably not. Nobody wants to mess with China to the extent that is actually necessary because of how deeply the world's economy depends on a cordial relationship with them. It's a delicate situation where doing anything meaningful is going to have some very serious negative consequences that will be blamed on whichever politician takes the plunge, and nobody really wants to martyr their career like that. But that doesn't mean that Trump has done a good enough job of it to call that a positive outcome of his presidency.

Rather than being specifically anti-mask based on principle or conspiracy theory, a large percentage of people where I live just plain don't give a fuck about any of it. They can't be bothered to do anything socially conscious; it's basically on the same level as littering. A major concern in the issue is apathy.

America has so many domestic issues of its own that Trump doesn't care about, and you can't blame China for them. Dems don't do much better, because these issues existed before him, but that doesn't make him a good president. Whatever inconsistent grandstanding he does about China is pretty meaningless and certainly not worth everything else he costs us.

The pandemic response alone is reason to want a new president. You can say it's not 100% his fault, sure, but reluctance to listen to listen to experts, and emboldening people to politicize things that should not be controversial are big failures on his part. And from the things he prioritizes talking about it's clear he doesn't care about Americans or anyone but himself and his image. And this isn't some rare swing and miss, this is what he's been doing his entire presidency. He fails at basic elements of governing that we've taken for granted with past presidents

do you want to compare him to Obama who literally assigned a task force to prepare the country this kind of pandemic who trump then fired because Obama brought them on?

You cant act like other presidents, of either party, would have bungled this so embarrassingly and shockingly bad. Hes done nothing to actually control the outbreak and has made it worse in an inept attempt to improve his political standings. This man is not up to the task to lead a country because he is at his very core, not a leader.

Trump may want to appear tough on China. Truth is, he's been anything but tough.

His whole trade war with China was ill-conceived and poorly executed. He charged headlong into the fray without garnering a single European ally to stand alongside the US against China.

USA is a force to be reckoned with on the world stage, but we have our limits. Can't do everything alone, and sure as shit can't take on the juggernaut of the Chinese economy on our own.

So, even if you say Trump's heart is in the right place in going after China on trade, he fucked it up so bad that China will likely come out ahead of where they were when Trump's term began. He's a massive fucking idiot.
