Had no idea IRS was like the mafia. Just took 68k from them and they weren't convicted of anything. They want their money back but only if they plead guilty and pay IRS 160k.

All they did was deposit under 10k I believe monthly. IRS said they were structuring and took all the money in their account. They weren't convicted. It was just your money is mine now. Like I said in OP they said we weren't charged/arrested can we have our money back. IRS responded plead guilty to a felony and pay 160k in fines if you want that 68k back.

So long as we insist on having a sliding scale and thousands of "what about this?" exceptions, a bloated bureaucracy is required.

If you deposit over $10k in cash, the bank is required to report it to the IRS and the FBI for potential money laundering. If you do it a few times, they'll just file it and ignore it. But if you regularly do it, like these guys, you betcha you'll get audited.

I just looked it up and 91% of their seizures are just like what happened in OP. They do it to lawful tax payers.

Looks like they stopped doing that in 2014 to the people where the source of the funds could be identified, unless in extreme cases, which is good they stopped. This does not seem fair at all.

I definitely think more people should be aware about the 10k rule. These people must have been in a unique instance where they were constantly depositing right under 10k but never over 10k (unintentionally) and it got flagged.

If they constantly see $9,500, $8,400, $9,900, $8,700 and this goes on and on but never reaches over 10k, it does seem a bit suspicious.

Oh so I'm dangerous in hoping for a better system than the IRS? Ok then.

Just shut the fuck up and think before you mouth off.

You just had to get around my ignore because you were so desperate to take it further; into the block.

Claiming and acting like you actually care about people when you're only seeing one side of it, and then wanting to take the piss on me because in your imaginary mind you have me all figured out.
