Opt outs are never going to end. College has not become a sense of pride but just a stepping stone anymore. I won't be surprised to see more opt outs like the Ohio State guy where they just say fuck it my stock is set and I'm done for the whole season.

Well, the playoff has just killed all sense of meaning to the bowl system. Most big name programs don't care about winning them anymore unless they're rebuilding or trying to make a name for themselves like Iowa State.

There never was much meaning to them. And even less when you couldnt even crown a real champion in them. It's just a different age though. More money driven individually. It's smart, sure. But, it's also disappointing.

I wish they would at least make it that if you opt out you owe back your athletic scholarships. It took someone's possible scholarship for you to not even give a full effort.

Yeah there are many issues with the current playoffs but this is definitely one of them. The bowls have lost a lot of prestige and now unless you're in the playoffs, who gives a fuck. This was the least interested I've been in a Georgia bowl game ever, by a lot. As soon as we got eliminated from playoff possibilities I didn't even care about the season that much. It's playoffs or bust.

At least before I would get hyped for the 5 major BCS bowls and would watch some random Fiesta bowl game just because it was the fiesta bowl

That academic scholarship is worth a lot more money than people realize and also has the benefits of an education. Should we just let them be free agents and pay them and say fuck the education part? Because honestly what many players want is basically just a lesser football league to get paid.

While I agree with this, I still laugh that OU only had 1 opt out which I think is pretty good for a roster that had played in 3 straight playoffs, while Florida had a ton
