Welcome to the King of Fighters 2020 (NOT MERCS) Simulated Character Battle Tournament!

The game is simple. The two* listed characters are placed in an (imaginary) location with a variety of (imaginary) environments, kind of like a picture in a child's schoolbook that describes different types of geological features. Within a ten mile radius, there is an (imaginary) urban downtown, exurbs, plains, snow-clad mountains at the edge, dry plains, etc. Fighters start wherever is most appropriate for them, but feel increasingly compelled to seek out their opponent and fight. Strong-willed fighters can try to hold out in their chosen environment for longer... eventually, all will succumb and actively search for the other to battle.

To participate, just vote in bold for whichever character you believe will win. Giving reasoning is optional, but please be polite and read what others have said and carefully make your decision. I'll ping the nominators (they can opt out) to give arguments if they wish.

so the funny thing with Jack-Jack is yeah, he's a dumb stupid idiot baby, but he's also surprisingly smart? Like he doesn't have much control of his powers but his powers always seem to activate to match the situation as needed (phasing through walls, lasers, multiplying and lighting on fire to avoid being contained, turning rubbery when being attacked. He can also lift things like beach chairs with ease and survive being smacked around despite being a literal baby, and that's not even a power.

Yeah, Jack-Jack has a pretty consistent track record of using his powers in a useful way when he needs them. He has no capacity to make a plan to win the fight, but he should be fine defensively and his offensive powers are fairly good if/when he does end using them after being attacked. Anyone have any insight on what the other guy can do?

Would this man be willing to give a baby a cookie, then stab him whilst he's distracted? Or would he go "haha baby okay let me sta-- oh shit the baby is on fire". Because I am fully willing to believe that Jack-Jack would be 100% incapacitated whilst eating a cookie, but that requires the other guy to be patient enough to not stab a baby in its idiot baby head.

I think even if he gives Jack jack a cookie, the idiot baby still seems to have really impressive reaction time to any outside threats. One of the deleted scenes has something falling on him and him just instantaneously teleporting out of the way without even looking

Toshiro Umezawa has some crazy-ass cool stuff he can do with kanji magic but almost all of his wins involve deceiving, conning, and outwitting his enemies, then hitting them with just the right thing at just the right time.

This is not a good game plan against a superpowered infant. Especially if he doesnt have the blessing of the Myojin.

You shouldn't need that much help to host this project though. I personally researched every single character who went into my own MPFC and arranged the matches to provide maximum entertainment, in the span of a couple weeks. That project was bad, but god knows it was not because I did not do decent bracket arrangements.

EDIT: Forgot that this included detail bios for every character as well. It's definitely not that complex to investigate stuff.
