1 and 2 are pretty sweet PC games. I just played them recently. They're just a bit simple compared to today's games. The entire "cinematic" paradigm was just new then.

Sounds like an accurate description to me. Call of Duty 2 was the peak of the series, and it has just became another serialized moneymaker with little innovation or promise since.
