These giant companies use that to lower their taxes. No way they gonna let people just work from home.

No. Many companies are already seeing how much they're saving from not dumping money into an office space. Some are choosing not to renew their leases once they are up.

This just makes me worry about a bunch of people being let go altogether because, well, you can save even more money by giving that job to an Indian dude.

Training people remotely sounds like a big hassle. Plus letting your employer into your home essentially... I hate that

It's really not considering you're probably training office workers on how to do computer related tasks. Everyone watching someone share there screen through a video conference app is no different than those same people sitting in a room watching that person's screen on a projector.

Also what do you mean "letting your employer into your home"?

lots of companies require you to essentially download a key logger and grant them access to your webcam, so they can monitor you and your activity while you're 'on the clock'.

Good lord that's downright fascist. It would be one thing to be monitored in an office building but in your own home?

Oh. I wasn't aware of all that. Yeah you're giving me a laptop if you expect me to work remotely. Not going to use my personal computer and download that stuff on it.

That's opinion. School learning I'd agree. Training random office monkey to perform computer task works fine remotely. Course my company was very remote friendly even before the virus happened. Everyone has laptops and use Zoom for meetings. Hell my team was only in the office 1-2 days a week.

What I've gathered is most employers are starting to realize how much longer it takes to get things done when people work from home, and how difficult it is for them to collaborate

What's gonna happen to all those office towers in downtown areas of major cities then? I mean...sit empty???

Money needs to cycle for the economy. If the office building owner isn't making money then less people won't spend. You're looking at a depression due to greed and penny pinching when many of these corps can afford the lease.
