I got some gravy from the supermarket out of the refrigerator to heat it up, somehow it had become frozen. I know theres nothing wrong with my refrigerator, as I have some bottled water in it that isnt ice. And it wasnt frozen when I got it either. Anyone have any ideas on how such a strange thing could happen?

It was likely in direct contact with the cold air blower at the back of the fridge. If I keep something pretty centered 2/3 of the way back on one shelf, it gets frozen, it's just a small area. I usually put beer there now.

The fridge doesn't have a discrete AC device. It pumps in freezer air. Your gravy was just sitting too close to the conduit so it was much colder there. Gravy also has a higher freezing temperature than water.

could be that, fridge is fuller then usual, and gravy was on back of top shelf near blower.

With one of the old fridges, I quickly learned that with the default settings eggs would freeze solid on the top shelf, but be fine on the middle one.

Thermodynamics, how the fuck does it work?
