I thought the timing was too good. Manager leaves, leaving me in charge until close. 10 minutes after he leaves an anti mask baby walks in. These aren't super common anymore since it isn't a new thing going on.

Clerk at the register tells her she needs a mask. She yells back "I have a medical issue" which I would bet every piece of silver I own she does not. She yelled back because she expected pushback. She keeps walking on.

I find her in the aisle and inform her she needs a mask, or else she can stand outside and we can take her order that way. So, she goes outside. Asks for a half gallon of Captain Morgan black. I take out Captain Morgan 100 proof(with a black label) to show her. NO. Not it.

Okay, so I don't see any Captain Morgan black...I ask a coworker, and she doesnt know of it, but says maybe she means Bacardi Black, which we do have.

I take that out. NO. I SAID CAPTAIN.

I told her we don't have any captain morgan black, just 100 proof with a black label or Bacardi black. "OHHH YOU JUST DON'T KNOW WHERE TO LOOK" and walks off.

So, after she leaves I go onto the computer and find out the deal with Captain Morgan black: our stores no longer carry it, and haven't for at least a year.

...I hope she finds that magical place in Pennsylvania where you don't need a mask to shop that ALSO sells captain morgan black. She may be searching from here to eternity.

Part of me wants to ask these people what medical issues they have preventing them from wearing masks are. Because my business was literally not considered essential by the state gov't for 1.5 months. So, you can't wear a mask because of some breathing issue, yet you come out to a non essential businesses in a pandemic where the main symptons of Covid are respiratory? Hmm, I don't know.

My place doesn't ask people to leave, but we got people who throw fits. It's especially bad since it's supposed to go 1 inform they need mask 2 offer mask 3 if they refuse ask them to maintain 6 foot distance. Step 3 is super fucking rude but it's what we are expected to do by the company.

My company is owned by the state gov't of PA, so in some ways it is awesome. We do not have to serve people without masks and we aren't breaking any rules or policy.

If somebody doesnt have a mask, we ask them to stand outside and we take their order, or we ask them to call curbside. Both reasonable options anybody with a medical issue would already be looking into.

If this woman were to not comply and stand there, the cops get called.

I dont really have to play it nice for fear of a reprimand.

State government sells liquor?

Anyways I'm not concerned of reprimand from the company, I'm afraid of getting shot. I live in one of the most Trump loving states in the country and work for a company that primarily caters to old men many of whom proudly have visible holsters on their waists sporting NRA gear.

I haven't done it myself, but the odd person has been banned from our store because of mask shit. One guy comes in with a mask on but is breathing heavy and wheezing. The PERFECT person who shouldn't be out in the middle of a pandemic where the main symptoms are respiratory.

The person waiting on them told them they could call curbside or wait outside next time. Not really prying into their medical issues but when every two seconds is heavy panting/wheezing, it's really a courtesy.

He decided to throw a tantrum at her, and he was banned immediately.

When I worked at wal-mart(my previous job) that customer would not be banned, but they could report the clerk to the customer service hotline for being rude while recieving a gift card in the mail for their trouble all the while the store manager has to call the customer and appologize and beg for their business back.

Where I work not temper tantrums don't win you any prizes.

Yes, in PA hard liquor sales are done via the state gov't.

While I don't like the government profiting from poisoning its citizens, honestly having the government dispense alcohol is the only way to really enforce it well. I wish more states had that restriction.

I can't be rude about things or otherwise give the customer anything to complain about, but if i follow policy, it doesn't matter. I can be stern if the situation warrants it.
