The supporters want the state government to give preferential treatment based on gender, race, etc. when it comes to business funding, public jobs, & state universities admissions. The last one in particular is the biggest part of all this.

I remember when the legislature was attempting to do this like 5 years ago and was covered in the local news. But it became a bit ugly when the public discourse focused in on asian american students. Online there was debate and arguing between black & latinEX vs asians

What is so insane about shifting from "demanding preferential treatment based on race, sex, and orientation" to literally making it legal to do so? It stands in direct opposition to what they're trying to accomplish.
