Anyways, why did they take away some of the ability names, but keep the mechanic? Lure, for example. There is a creature that has that ability (Everything must block it), but it doesnt have Lure.

Why not?

but in general, if the ability isn't showing up in (almost) every set, they'll not use it on a card or two, even if it's exactly the same.

Haven't played in forever, but recent trend in CCGs has been: If many creatures in an expansion feature some mechanic, give it a key word; otherwise, if a few creatures feature some mechanic, just spell out what it does. This avoids reading fatigue while not confusing too many new players.

Now that they made mill an actually term on cards, they should (eventually) do the same with lure, daunt, whatever the "can't be blocked by more than 1 creature" was called, etc.

Has Lure ever been used as an ability word on a card, or is that just some Arena thing? And yeah I'm pretty bummed out the topic got deleted before I came back to check if anyone else saw the Commander Collection/Legends stream.

I wish Landfall turned into an actual keyword to make scryfall searches for land etb's slightly easier.

no. that was just idiots trying to cheat you. mana burn was when you made mana but didn't use it. like casting a dark ritual but only casting a two-mana spell with it.

I bet no mana burn makes cards like Braid of Fire, OG Omnath, and Kruphix very weird to look at from a different time of the game. I'm sure there's others but I'm mostly an EDH player.

If you're going to spell it out anyway, it makes more sense to save text space by not using the keyword.

Keywords should be universal enough so that you don't need them spelled out every time, anyway.

Keywords are important if they need to be referenced somehow. Flying is a decent example of that.

They started with 2 Downed Secrets, I make them mill their hand, they draw the other 2 and other blue cards.

This bull shit happened all fucking day with me. How the fuck do I run a 60-card deck with 18 land, and still get fucking Flooded?! But they run over 100 and draw every fucking card they need after they get enough land. They never get flooded. They always hit their curve perfectly
