source is a blog and measurement metric is cash on hand, probably the least useful thing to know about a company

Nintendo has great old school financials iirc but its not exactly like theyre going to be on the same level as, say, Honda.

They're being measured in their cash reserves not revenue.

Not necessarily. The most common metric is revenue, which my link displays. Your post used a different metric. No big deal.

Not sure if things have changed, but I thought all of Sony's divisions aside from their Playstation one were bleeding money.

Can you imagine if Sony didn't shit the bed with the Vita? (Granted, it had a longer shelf life in Japan, but Sony still gave up supporting it rather fast).

Sony came the closest to even offering a challenge, but Nintendo has always dominated in the portable market, in every region at that (especially outside of Japan)

Hell, even with the Wii U shitting the bed, the 3DS easily compensated for its poor sales

the most common metric is profit, not revenue.

toyota is still so much larger than every other japanese company that it tops this category as well.

but most of the top companies by revenue are conglomerates or automotive firms. their profit ratios are significantly worse than financial services, technology, and telecommunications companies, who tend to be at the top in net income.

Sony is killing portable gaming with mobile games if you want to count it that way. Fate Grand Order is their most profitable game EVER.

Also Nintendo has always had a very strong grip on the Japanese market. Due to being the first. Its one of the reasons Sega hit a break wall. They just couldnt get a leg up in the Japanese market in the 90s but were doing well in America.
