You literally only have to worry about fires once every year or two and that's mostly in remote areas with lots of vegetation. In big cities there's like a .00002% chance of having a fire that damages more than 1 or two blocks. I haven't heard any fire that took out an entire block ever and I'm in my 30s. And there hasn't been a huge life changing earthquake since 1989. Since then it's only small earthquakes that do any damage. Maybe there was maybe less than 5 that scared people and moved some things off the shelf but that's it. Must suck to live in Texas, Florida and other states that have multiple huge natural disasters yearly that needs people to evacuate. Weather sucks ass in other states but Cali got weather that makes the 49 other states jelly of them.

Every state except in the southwest is a bad place to live.

that would be the republicans who took that right away from us with the Mulford act. I mean, it was both sides but the reason it actually got passed was because our republican president got shook as fuck when he came to CA.

The cost of living is batshit insane in the major cities beyond anything in the US outside of NYC.

More than 90% of the population of would be better off and have a higher standard of living if they moved away. It just isn't a good place to live if you have the will and the means to move away.

Idk about the fires, my parents have lived in Southern California for like 5 or 6 years now and almost lost their house twice to fires. Seems pretty bad

the living cost and taxes are high but that goes for any major city like NYC or Chicago. If you move from these cities, then Cali is no different. the good definitely outweighs the bad parts.

I get super uncomfortable when it's a dry, no wind 80+ degree fahrenheit day. I don't think there's a place that averages 70 to 85 degrees in the summer, 70s to 60s in the fall, 50s to 60s in winter and 60s in spring which are perfect weather that is affordable ($1,000 or less/month).

It's not just that it's expensive to live there

I've looked at homes it California and it seems throughout the state (at least as far north as the Bay Area) HOA fees are rampant even for $1+ million homes.

This is specifically on the west coast (Bay Area, LA, San Diego, etc) but why live in California if you aren't living on the west coast?

You also get a lot less for your $ than in other states

I was kinda hinting at people to list areas with not super hot ass weather that cost $1,000 or less/month to rent. And also no hurricanes, floods, or other natural disaster that happen once or multiple times per year. Also gotta have at least some diversity. Do areas like this exist in the U.S.?

I don't give a flying fuck about democrats/liberals because they are racists too but I do believe in women's rights (abortion when they feel like they need to, can do any job as long as they're qualified, equal pay), against racism, don't hate on immigrants, limit guns to only handguns and ban ARs and other weapons of war except hunting rifles, believing in going 100% electric with vehicles, energy/power, etc. Right wing/republicans seem to want the opposite of those things for some reason and that's pretty shitty of them to think that way.

Political beliefs are the last thing I'm talking about. The culture is basically "no enemies to the left," meaning anyone to the left of me is ok despite how evil, racist and hateful they are, and anyone to the right of me is the anti-christ no matter how reasonable, tolerant, and kind they are. They regularly use oppression and intimidation tactics against anyone who disagrees, even their own family and friends. Slander is their native tongue and lies are their dialect. Basically imagine 90% of CE and make a state out of it and that's what you get.
