I always thought Mr Freeze had a really compelling story. What he's doing is out of love for his wife, it was either that or she dies IIRC he's a really interesting character. I would have loved to see modern adaption of him, but because arny did such a bad job playing him no one really cares for the character.

The writing should be blamed more than Arnold. He only had so much to work with because of that script.

IIRC the animated series actually invented that backstory for him. Before that he was just a guy with an ice gimmick.

But I agree that a proper movie adaptation of the heart of ice storyline would be amazing.

Topic title makes no sense to me when paired with OP. Amy ruins Mr. Freeze? What?

The animated series version of Mr Freeze is an amazing story. I haven't watched that show in over 15 years and I still remember how that story made me feel.

If you've never seen it, his last story in Batman Beyond is a fitting conclusion to the character.

7 year old Alis saw the movie before she got a chance to see the his appearances in TAS. >_>

I thought he was really compelling back then. And I actually still really like the hamminess he brings to the role, even though I understand why it wouldnt be popular compared to the (much) more serious Burton movies.

Tbh I dont think that movie is the reason were not getting Freeze. The modern Batman movies have actively tried to distance themselves from the franchises more fantastical and soft sci-fi elements. Even in BvS, all comic booky stuff was from the Superman mythos.

its the same reason we havent gotten villains like Clayface or Manbat. >_>

didn't New 52 ruin him again? his cool backstory got retconned in New 52 I think. they made it so that he never actually was married to the frozen lady and he first saw her already frozen. and became obsessed with the idea that they had a relationship. I hate that.

but yea, the best Mr Freeze is in the Animated series from the 90's. there was also a full length movie about him from the same studio I think

You can blame Nolan for that. There's still people out there who think the Nolan batman movies are good(BB was decent, but the other two are so lame in retrospect). Nolan is responsible for creating a relatively grounded batman, hopefully the new batman film can convince us batman can be more than a rich vigilante.

If you want to see a modern adaptation of him then watch the show Gotham. I think he first shows up in season 2

Yes, I don't recall if there ever was a Mr. Freeze movie, but the animated series in the 90s really nailed that character and a lot of other ones as well. I remember the music and voice acting was just perfect, the Mr Freeze episodes were heavy man.
