There are compulsory education laws that regulate school attendance. Kids who are absent too long, or who fail to enroll from one year to the next, get investigated and parents could get in trouble.

But what if a parent never enrolled them in the first place, meaning they are never in a school system to begin with? Is there a mechanism in place to catch this?

I got to wondering the other day if there are parents out there that keep their children out of school entirely and no one knows about it. I lived in a rural community for a while and would sometimes see the same kids wandering about every day in the neighborhood. Not sure if homeschooled or just not in school at all.

Cps would show up most likely
But how would they know? Unless someone reported them, is there a task force that keeps tab of every family in the community with children?
