This too. I just didn't care for the handling of power armor, it also felt too clunky and I didn't like the interface while using it.
The interface was the biggest issue for me.

That and needing stupid power cores

For the complaints about power armor it's worth getting the Jetpack mod at least once, putting Explosive Vents on the the armor, and becoming a rocket trooper.

I liked what they did with power armour tbh. One of the few good things from the game.

Honestly, I've heard people shit on F4 so much that I often forget that it exists. Have a hard time seeing any Bethesda Fallout topping New Vegas

Power Armor is probably the only thing that Fallout 4 does better than 3 / NV; it finally felt like a unique departure from regular gameplay, as opposed to just being that clunky shit that gives you a few more points in defense over the best regular armor. I never really got the Fusion Core criticism; I'm a bigger skinflint than most gamers when it comes to consumables, but even on playthroughs where I'm wearing PA more often than not I've never come close to running out. It's also the only time I've ever kind of liked equipment degradation / repair in these games, as opposed to merely tolerating it.

One complaint that I have with the new power armor system is that it limits you to up-close-and-personal fighting. It so clunky, loud, and slow that it only lends itself to melee or close range combat.

I never found power armor worth the hassle tbh. I like the idea of it being more of a mech suit on paper, but honestly, it's just more convenient not to bother with it across a long playthrough.

Its fun but it feels like more and more bethesda is moving away from the actual fallout feel. Which is fine because they own the IP.

The main story is dull, theres a lot of empty locations, a lot of issues that you need to fix with mods, boring side quests, and a lot of recycled content from fallout 3.

However the combat is fun and probably the best in a fallout game. Companions were ok and i always love running around with dogmeat, and i got sucked into the settlement building.

Personally i feel like fallout is getting way too goofy for my tastes.

Well...yeah? What purpose would a giant suit of armor serve in stealth-kill situations? And I've picked off hundreds of enemies from sniping distance while wearing PA (and no investment in sneak perks), so it doesn't 'limit' you to close-range combat.

I got a machine gun with explosive rounds, even Deathclaws are dead before they get lose enough for melee combat.

I think the biggest problem with Bethesda's direction (apart from not grasping the whole 'post-post apocalypse' concept) is that they really didn't understand the full implications of setting their game world 200 years after the Great War. This failure to comprehend reached maximum saturation with FO4's infamous 'Boy in a Fridge' quest (which I try not to dwell on too much because - unlike FO3's main quest, Skyrim's Thieve's Guild, and similar bottom-tier examples of Bethesda writing - Boy in a Fridge is an easily-avoidable side quest). A lot of their writing and worldbuilding shortcomings would have been alleviated if they'd just committed to making a traditional post-apocalypse game in the Fallout universe and set FO3 20-30 years after the Great War.

I feel like they need to just forget the earlier fallouts happened and just pretend the series started with 3.

The world has already been rebuilding and its established governments and cities again. 3 and 4 make all the cities disconnected and act like the war just happened.

The only part i liked of the fallout 4 story was the whole "are you synth? How would you really know" part that is barely touched on other than a few lines with DiMA.

If you're not investing in energy weapons and rocking the unique gating laser with power armor, you're doing it wrong.
