Yeah, they needed an actor and the original was an employee.
Still, he's there in the first new Jake commercial as the guy in the next cubicle. Though they should have filmed a new commercial instead of just using the old parts. New Jake IS hot, but it's weird seeing the old clips of the couple with the new clip of Jake. Seems like they coulda filmed a new version of the couple's scene too and it would be less jarring.
