I could swear I remember hearing one time about getting a pot with hot, or boiling water, and putting that in there to unthaw it. But I don't know if that's actually a thing, or if I'm remembering wrong.

A Molotov cocktail is typically made with a mixture of ethanol and gasoline in a glass bottle.

This is what people normally do. Put something in there to catch the water

And let stuff that has to stay refrigerated, like hot dogs or mayonnaise, and stuff that has to stay frozen, like all the frozen food, go bad.

Actually, on second thought, I have no scientific data or anything that leaving this stuff out for 8-10 hours will make it unsafe to consume afterwards. I just assume it would be unsafe.

Heat moves from warm objects to colder objects so it wouldnt take long for the boiling water to lose most of its thermal energy and just become cold water. That doesnt sound effective at all

I'm pretty sure they only reliable foolproof way to thaw a freezer is to just open the door and let it thaw on its own, preferably outside.

Move the food somewhere else for the time being.

Even if the fridge has no power?

You can just casually move a fridge outside?

Yeah, I'm thinking it might be okay even if this stuff was thawed out for 8 hours, it might be okay to freeze it again.

Why not? Just unplug it and move it outside the same way you'd move any furniture. Or set up some sort of receptacle to catch all the water

Move all of that stuff to the fridge side and leave the fridge door closed like you would in a power outage. It should stay fairly cold
