It's out in a couple hours if you got the deluxe digital edition and later this week for physical + regular digital editions.

I grabbed it for PS4. Hopefully it'll capture some of what I loved about Marvel Heroes.

I mean they're not any different from any other battle passes. It costs $10 and you get enough credits to unlock the next pass for free so you really only need to buy 1 if you're interested.

The big difference here is that there's no time limit on the character passes. Most games like Fortnite require you to grind the whole pass in like 2 months or whatever but this one will let you take your time.

I liked the beta so I'll be getting this game. There's a crazy level of misinformation and hate for this game online that doesn't seem justified

I mean if you hate GaaS that's one thing but this game has one of the better models for GaaS. All of the future characters and content is free, the ONLY MTX are costumes in this game. Compare it to something like Destiny 2 where you have to buy a new expansion every 3 months.

I'd rather have free content and paid costumes over free costumes and paid content. Yes the ideal scenario is free both but they need to make money somehow. If this game were free to play then you'd have to buy every new character for $10.

Every impression I've read from people in the beta is that every character is basically the same character.

Also I will admit the game never really had a chance in my mind because it is, in fact, a GaaS, which I don't think is capable of resulting in a good game.

Yep and the first 6 starting characters have their battle passes completely unlocked. You get 1300 credits through the battle pass so you actually get 7800 in game credits (equal to spending $78) just by playing the game. So if you're patient and you don't feel like blowing that on new costumes you could unlock the next 7 battle passes for free.

Then you get another 1300 credits from missions in each new battle pass whenever a new character gets added!

Nah. I was on the fence, so I preordered it to try out the beta and it was just kinda dull. I actually did like Kamala and how she plays, but the combat is so repetitive and the levels werent interesting and went on way too long, so the thought of having to replay those same levels over and over, as you do in GaaS games, made me cancel my preorder.

Everything Ive heard since has put me off too, the paid battle passes for an already full price game, the Spider-Man exclusivity, special variant costumes being locked behind which internet and phone provider you have, Hawkeye being the only other confirmed character to come. Nothing that made me excited. Its a bummer as I was looking forward to this game when it was announced.

I've played it and this isn't really true at all. People that have only played it for like five minutes say that because every character has weak, strong, and ranged attacks and so on, but they definitely differ.

Honestly I think how this game is handling battle pass(es) seems like the most fair of any game I've played? There's more than enough in the base game passes to unlock additional passes and because they're free and never expire, I don't have to worry about grinding levels at the end of a 'season.'

It also seems like they'll release characters at a fairly decent pace? They've announce Hawkeye and Spider-Man, and apparently will announce another tomorrow who will release in a couple weeks.

The marketing campaign did this game a complete disservice because the single player portion is an Uncharted/Tomb Raider style game starring Kamala Khan and that did not come across at all.

I remember something very similar to this happening to a other game recently, which was advertised exclusively for the multiplayer content but had a huge campaign. Can't remember what, though. Not thinking of Doom.

I will admit, I did like the awkward dad-daughter dynamic Bruce and Kamala had going on from what I saw in the beta. Maybe I'll pick it up on the cheap later on for the campaign.

Also, I like Kate Bishop, but bow and arrow people for two of the first three new characters?

The way they talked about it on stream made it seem like Clint's story will be told further down the line, so I wouldn't be surprised if the next character is someone else. They probably revealed Clint first because he was the most notable MCU Avenger not in the base game and it would throw people off the scent for Kate.

Oh, I missed this because I was watching it in the background. Seems like Black Panther was also going to be announced today but they pulled it out of respect for the sudden passing of Chadwick Boseman.

Everything I've seen sounds like Destiny except with superheroes instead of guns, which sounds like a pretty great concept. I would try it if it comes out with a free weekend at some point (like Destiny did).

Okay, so, after reading all the posititve stuff about the campaign, I buckled and re-preordered. But I got an edition that came with the extra three days and did a video.

And yeah, Square Enix definitely fucked up the marketing for this. I'm still not entirely sold on the online stuff and I dunno how much of that I'm gonna do, but the campaign is solid at least and I put the difficulty up and I'm feeling the combat a lot better now. Not quite Marvel's Ms Marvel, but she is definitely the driving force of the plot and easily my favourite character so far, although all of them are really good.

I mean when the game first got announced they did focus a lot on the story and they showed all of the big name voice actors they hired. But once the gameplay was revealed they just stopped talking about the story.

I think it was right to focus on the multiplayer Desinty aspect because that's the main meat of the game but they could have talked about the story a little more.

They definitely botched the PR for this game though

I've been watching a lot of multiplayer since it started coming in that people were turning around on this, and it still seems like the same dull repetitive crap these GaaS always are. Complete no go for me there.

The single player seems like it may be worth it though. Might resubscribe to Gamefly.

Apparently the campaign takes 12-15 hours if you just do main missions and around 20 with side missions. That's a chunky campaign even for a game that doesn't have a Destiny style grind with multiplayer missions attached.
