America has these political lecture type shows with hosts that go after US politics. But many of these shows are hosted in 2019-2020 by foreigners such as Samantha Bee, Jim Jefferies, Trevor Noah, John Oliver. Do these shows like these exist in other countries hosted by Americans. Like a Canada type show where an American trashes Canadian politics or even a UK show where Americans trashes UK politicians?

You didn't answer the title in OP. Just try to discredit the fact that Samantha Bee is from Canada, John Oliver from UK, Trevor Noah from South Africa, etc. Does this mean answer is no they don't exist in other countries because you could have just named just 1 show instead.

it means he doesn't know but he rejects your premise because he sees those people as americans, not foreigners who moved here to bitch at american-born americans

They aren't foreigners though, is the point. They are American citizens, regardless of where they were born or held citizenship in the past (or still hold duel citizenship?)

For the UK though, not aware of anyone who does similar, no. We have plenty of our own who do it though.

The UK doesn't have an equivalent because the British prefer a seperation of news and comedy for the most part. They prefer things like Newsnight and Question Time, which are sans of comedy entirely. The closest would be the game show Have I Got News For You which is a comedy news quiz that has a rotating host and quiz members, some of which have been American/Canadian like Rich Hall, Reginald D. Hunter, Jerry Springer and William Shatner.

That is correct. I don't know the answer to the question.

I just addressed an inaccuracy in your premise. None of those four people are "foreigners" by legal definition.

Netherlands
Eva Jinek
Sort of. The format is different as she has guests over who are interviewed instead of monologueing into a camera, but Dutch politics come up daily.

Yeah that what I was thinking. I don't hate any of those four people. Im just thinking it is odd these types of shows are filled with foreigners these days. And was just wondering do other countries have 1 let alone 4 shows like this hosted by Americans trashing their political figures. Like to throw out random country a Russian show hosted by an American trashing Putin everyday.

Yeah, because that's the same.

Nothing like accidental cases of poisoning yourself with novichok to make for good political comedy.

There's that word again, but an additional vague inaccuracy in the "filled with".

Seth Meyers, Conan O'Brien, Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Bill Maher, Greg *hurp* Gutfield

EDIT #1: Come to think of it, you didn't mention James Corden, who is actually British by citizenship making him the only "foreigner" to host a late night comedy show.

EDIT #2: Ah, found another. Lilly Singh is Canadian by citizenship.

Craig Ferguson was one as well, but he did get American Citizenship while he was hosting.

There you go again aiming for the premise instead of naming one show in another country.

Out of those you named only Bill Maher is a similar show. Late Night Talk shows are totally different than what John Oliver does. I will even throw out a US show hosted by an American you didn't name Hasan Minaj has one. I never said I hated or have anything against these american shows just looking for recommendations of other countries shows. Whats wrong with hearing about other countries shows? To see what their media is like.

Because you keep calling Americans foreigners for some reason. It's pretty obvious what you're doing and acting oblivious just makes you look like a numpty.

Yea this. If people are hung on it being an American it can even be like a person from the UK/Canada moves to Mexico and gets successful criticizing their politicians/country. I don't have knowledge of other countries television programming to know if people move their to create Daily Show clones criticizing their country. I guess as has been said some countries you do turn up dead/missing if you do that but there are many safe countries.

There have been some interesting posts so far with Hazel Brugger and Eva Jinek.

If he legit wants the answer, he should be asking on the international boards. CE is very US centric.
