What's to talk about.

Saw the giant living room the family had to set it up in and I'm like "wow, must be nice".

I'm trying to figure out what the point is. You're staring at your screen anyway so it's just an annoyance for everyone else in your house who wants to walk thru your race.

What if someone describes it since YouTube is blocked at work
It's an RC mario kart that you control via switch. The level is wherever your physical RC is and you can see it on your switch screen. There are power ups and coins like in real mario kart

Because it's stupid. It's the kind of thing that sounds cool in theory, but will never work in 99% of homes.

Majority of people interested in it don't have an enormous, wide-open living room that would actually work with racing.

To everyone talking about how stupid this is - it isnt aimed at you. This is for kids. Theyll eat this shit up. I forwarded the video to all of my friends who have kids anywhere from 5-12 and own a Switch. Every one of them said their kids will flip out over this.

For anyone older than that, it would be fun to see it in action, but would probably lose its novelty after 30 minutes.

I love how they never show what happens if you hit something. Intentionally of course, but like, my first thought is will that thing break as soon as it clips a wall.

I couldnt see me wanting it either way even if I had the size for a cool track.

Because people here are largely not home owners with spacious living rooms and children who would be excited about racing remote controlled cars in said living room while watching it on a screen in a form of virtual reality, not to mention that this whole thing looks like it could become very expensive if they go the amiibo route and release several new cars to play as different characters.

I wonder how big you can make a track?

The first floor of my house is basically a big figure 8 of great room, kitchen, office, and front room. Would be a lot of fun coming up with some ideas.

It's kind of cool but problem is I just don't see a real opportunity to play it. I actually have a spacious enough house but most of it is carpet so I would have to buy track for it and the costs start going up pretty heavily for something I will almost never play.

Now if there turns out to be a literal scene like minis where I can go to a shop on the weekend "BYOKart" and race against other patrons against a store's preset track I might be more interested but for now it's a load of meh.

Everything in the trailer involved flat surfaces. I wonder how it would handle ramps - would that mess with the software at all.

Good question. Fortunately my first floor is uniform hard surface. Ramps and elevation might be out but tunnels using furniture and some kids toys could be interesting. While the kids race I can manage obstacles like pillow Thwomps

I was wondering how creative someone could get by adding a level to the track. If you dont have a sprawling living room, then maybe make a course that uses a ramp to go up above the track. Build a makeshift bridge. Get creative.

If it can handle that kinda stuff, then Id imagine well see some very elaborate courses built by people once the game comes out. Those checkpoints could be a limitation, though, depending on how they work.

To me it looks like it links the track together with the checkpoints and cardboard arrows. So as long as you can link them together and have reception from the switch to the kart most ideas should work I think.
