Yeah, but can you really call anyone a winner that gen? The Wii probably has the worst library of all major consoles, the 360 was a meme due to RROD and the PS3 was the weirdest piece of hardware ever to develop for. In terms of hardware stability combined with sales the Wii was probably the most reliable of the bunch, but I wouldn't really call a massive gimmick coming out on top a "win" either.

360 was the control standard for console development and because of its easy infrastructure many of the big games are now playable on Xbox One, I'd say it came out on top that gen in terms of "quality"

The fact that it was the first time a major console was famous for bricking, brings it down though. You can't speak of a quality product when it cost the manufacturer over a billion dollars to fix the problem. It's a big part of why Sony ended up with a lot more marketshare than they had earned. In terms of hardware last gen was a bit of a joke. 300-500 dollar machines bricking, tons of errors, low performance, gimmicks,...
TBF I still get way too many system errors on my PS4, but at least I can continue playing within 90 seconds now

First time? Major console? PS2 literally faced a class-action lawsuit over their disc drive and lost, and that's the greatest selling console of all time

Ironically my PS4 Pro is trash, disc drive is fucked so you have to slap the top of the system to get the disc to spin properly. My One X is going strong almost 3 years later in comparison

Oh fuck, despite having that exact problem with God of War 1 and MGS 3 Subsistence I have never heard of this. Maybe it's due to social media being a thing post PS2, but as you yourself say it didn't cost Sony marketshare. That can't be said for Microsoft and the 360. If the bricking wasn't a thing, they would've absolutely crushed Sony and we'd likely be looking at a very different gaming landscape where Sony actually bothered to be consumer friendly.
Can't really comment on disc problems as my PS4 has only ran 5-6 physical games in the 5 years I've owned it.

I think it says a lot about Xbox 360 that despite the RRoD being such a thing, it still remained most people's go-to console long afterwards, especially during the 2011 ApocalyPS3, which I experienced firsthand

I do have a PS2 that still works to this day even after me taking it apart to remove a jammed disc, so they really don't make them like they used to anymore.
