Im a believer that an ex is an ex for a reason. A past thing stays that way. While I agree that an ex is an ex for a reason, I don't see why that means you can't attend their funeral. Personally, when I use that phrase, it's just means I won't normally date them again unless under certain circumstances... But an ex can still be a friend. My mom's ex husband from when I was a child is still a good family friend. Plays cards with my grandma and cousins and comes to family get-togethers. Same as my siblings dad.
