There's really no such thing as canon in Scooby Doo, because the shows and films frequently contradict each other. Pretty much everything should be viewed as a standalone. Scooby is actually somehow even wonkier on continuity than DC, and this isn't even addressing the fact that Mystery Inc ~~had history get rewritten~~ Keep in mind that we have probably at least TEN different origins for the Scooby gang first meeting. No, debatable, and no. 1) It's incredible; possibly the best incarnation of Scooby Doo. 2) Most of the episodes are standalone (your usual monster-of-the-week mystery) with some amount of running continuity. Previous incarnations of the show had multi-part episodes (ie, not standalone) and running continuity, so it's not entirely different in that regard although it had more continuity than other series and, unlike most versions, it had things resembling season/series finales. 3) He's a parrot.
