Prior to the start of the NFL season opener between the Kansas City Chiefs and Houston Texans on Thursday, both teams took to midfield at Arrowhead Stadium to lock arms with one another for a moment silence dedicated to the ongoing fight for equality in America. A moment meant to bring everyone together, some fans in the capacity-limited crowd in Kansas City showed they apparently weren't fans of unity. A smattering of boos could be heard during the silence.

The reaction to the moment was a clear indication that some people's displeasure over the years with players kneeling during the national anthem was never really about the anthem or the flag. It was about those people's indifference to the issues players were and still are attempting to bring attention to, such as police brutality and racism. Ravens quarterback Robert Griffin III apparently took notice of that very fact and took to Twitter to point out the unequal reactions.

"How can you be more upset about bringing awareness to racism than racism itself?" Griffin tweeted. Across the U.S., the fight against racism continues, and it's clear that fight is here to stay in the NFL and many other sports leagues. The NFL will play Lift Every Voice and Sing, also known as the Black national anthem, prior to every game this opening week -- along with the national anthem.

It was a tennis player named James Blake. I think he was in Manhattan during the US Open and he was at his hotel when the cops tackled him. It was 5 PCO's and none of them identified themselves.

It was a tennis player. He was standing outside. Some hotel worker said that Blake was a member of the jewelry theft ring the cop was investigating. The cop tackled him because he heard the gang members had knives. He never identified himself.

Also he apparently lost five vacation days for the assault.
By comparison, he lost three times that much for improper desk work or something.

Also there have been at least two NBA players who have been assaulted by police. One had his leg broken. The other had body cam footage of the cops making jokes about assaulting an NBA player.

And this has not been about the anthem since Day 1. You know how many times the camera will pan through the crowd during the Anthem and you will see people drinking or texting or talking to their buddies? It's just about black people doing something they don't like.

I guarantee you they played the full National Anthem in it's entirety, those fans would get pissed.

I admit the booing was way out of line, but I can't say I'd have been happy to have to hear about this bullshit during a football game either, considering it's literally everywhere else.

That's not delaying the game, and the military is the only thing keeping you from being taken over by a foreign country (not that that'd necessarily be a bad thing considering recent events), but hell, lose those too for all I care.
