I'm always told how Korean or Japanese horror films are far scarier than western made horror movies. Only ones I've seen are the Japanese made Ring and Grudge to see the comparison, but still think it's not really fair to say they do the genre any better. Originals of any film usually tend to be better anyways. Still, I'm curious as to what are some genuinely scary eastern made films. I'm specifically looking to watch a Korean made one tonight. Anyways, what's CE's list look like?

The original Grudge is too cheap looking to be scary to me.

I haven't seen many eastern horror movies, but The Grudge and Ringu did nothing for me.

Audition was great, though.

edit: but from what I've seen, I generally prefer western horror movies, even though it's pretty rare that I see one that I like.
