Is the paperwhite waterproof though?

I got the oasis and used it a year ago when working out, I could read it when doing water areobics, and even when swimming against the pool (just legs), so it was really useful for that. Also nice if your out and it's raining etc.

Sadly I can't see the text on it anymore so it's basically not been used for half a year at least, but it was nice back then, it was also basically the same price when I got it ($80) because it was on sale.

I like the larger screen, lighting, and dedicated page-turning buttons. But the paperwhite is pretty good.

the paperwhite is waterproof

and the big selling point of the paperwhite is that it's backlit, but the regular kindle is also backlit, now, it's just not waterproof

like i want an oasis, but i can't justify spending $250 on one, for just an inch bigger screen and two buttons.

but i also think the paperwhite is too expensive for what it is at $120, so i've been looking into other e-ink readers.

Ahh, well I don't know but I think when I got it, it was the one on sale, and it was like the same price (But normally it was $120 or something), so it seemed like a good deal, and the others didn't say they were waterproof back then I don't think.

Anyway it was really nice while I could use it. Excellent purchase.

Yeah I got mine in a black Friday sale. Can't remember what I spent exactly but I got two (one for my wife) and I know it was less than $400

I might be wrong, but I vaguely remember that they have like an amazon week or month.....maybe it's only for prime members, but they usually have big discounts on all their kindle product at that point. It may have been when I got mine. Might be able to get it for even less than $80 now (not sure how much they are new at this point).

I used other things as ebooks in the past (even a PSP!! Actually that was my first ebook hehe). I can use an ipad still (it's big enough to read for me), but anything smaller is no dice.

I think some of the kindles can also play audio books though, not sure if you like those, but it could be worth getting for long trips etc.

I have an oasis. The extra inch of screen is really nice. It was $200 for the one with the warm light and I sold my Paperwhite to amazon for a good deal making it like $75 or something to upgrade during a week it was discounted already, idk.

Only complaint is that it doesnt fit in my pocket like the Paperwhite did. Ive considered going back to a paperwhite, but also Id really like a 8 oasis screen to happen. Going from 6 to 7 is nice.

I don't disagree. What's a couple buttons cost to make? 2? Just get the paperwhite unless you can find an oasis way cheaper

Upgrading from the base model Kindle to the Paperwhite costs $40 and gets you a 300 ppi screen instead of 167 ppi, 5 LEDs instead of 4, an IPX8 waterproof chassis, and there is an optional upgrade to 32 GB storage and free cellular connectivity.

The top end Oasis is only $100 more than the top end Paperwhite, which gets you a bigger screen, adjustable light color, 25 LEDs for more even light, auto-adjusting light sensor, page turn buttons, and automatic page orientation.

I have over 1300 ebooks. If they were paper, they'd have cost literally tens of thousands of dollars and would take up an entire room of my house.

Well, I figure it'll probably take me the rest of my life to read them all. But I do have over 500 physical books, and I haven't read all of them, either.
