It happened just before 9am in a rural cornfield in Chandler Township as Jeffrey had been DROPPED OFF at the field so he could go hunt deer and then when he didn't find anything he had apparently fallen asleep. A 25 y/o man returned to the field to finish harvesting not knowing anybody was in the field and drove a large Krone Corn Chopper and over a sleeping Powell only realizing what he had done a short while later. Emergency Workers declared him dead at the scene The powell family said Jeffrey died what he loved doing...hunting. The 8th grade student was an avid hunter, fisherman and archer and a state champion in the middle school archery team. The driver had absolutely no reason to suspect that somebody might be sleeping in the field he was harvesting, and therefore no reason to scout out the area before beginning to work (at which point he can't have been expected to see the kid lying down because visibility in those machines is quite limited). I don't think he should be charged though...how often do you come across somebody out of the blue when your doing your job until it's too late to do anything.
