$80CAD came out in 2018, but GoW 2018 I got for under $20.

Is Hitman 2 a longer storyline? More side missions?

Once I'm done GoW 2018 I may get Bloodborne since it's under $20 also and I heard good things.

I think Hitman 2 continued to have content added to it (like new levels and missions and stuff) up through earlier this year, so maybe thats why it has retained the higher price tag. It is also designed for heavy replay-ability whereas something like God of War, that you mentioned, is really made for one, maybe two play throughs.

Hitman 2 does go on steam sales occasionally, maybe keep an eye out for a drop.

God of War was a singleplayer game on a single console with a single, defined gameplay experience. It made its money, and it's essentially entered a retirement phase where Sony can take a bit of a monetary hit on it if they want, and they also want the widest market coverage possible so people will be looking forward to the sequel.

Hitman 2 is a singleplayer game, but it's a "live service" - special events take place in the game that you'll only know about if you log in within 2 days of it happening, and they offer recurring DLC packs throughout the lifespan of the game. Hitman 2 acts as a framework to present levels from both the first and second game, and to facilitate events like those bonus targets that show up for a pre-determined amount of time. So as a "service", it's more expensive - the logic being that you're paying an entry fee for the service.

I'm not saying it's justified or anything, I just think that's the logic behind it.

Bro Hitman 2 Gold is on sale for $39 right on the page you linked. It's Hitman 2 with the season pass and all of the content of Hitman 1 (including its season pass). Just get that. It's essentially two games + 2 season passes worth of content.

That is 100% worth it, believe me.

That comes with like 6 maps I think.

The one I linked does with 6 from Hitman 1 (7 if you count the beginner mission) plus the bonus missions which are new situations in those maps. This along with the full 8 maps of Hitman 2 when you have the season pass and the bonus missions.

It also comes with a handful of unique costumes and gear iirc. There might be more in forgetting about.

Edit: of course all cutscenes from the Hitman 1 campaign are included as well. But be aware this is a huge download with both games.

The Hitman 1 maps have been slightly altered as well. There's a "hide in grass" mechanic that was introduced in 2, so some tall murder grass is in the maps of the first one along with other minor revisions.

Basically yes. That's why the base price is $130.

And tbh I haven't played through all the Hitman 2 levels, but if it's like Hitman 1 the "DLC" maps will be just as important story wise as the base game maps. The DLC maps are presented as part of the main campaign in the UI of both games, and in the case of H1 the climax and denouement of the story are the DLC maps.

If you're waiting on Hitman 3 by the way, they've confirmed you'll be able to import every map as well as all of your progress so long as you stay on the same platform. So if you want to buy this then wait until H3 in the fancy new engine to play it... you can if you want to. But I'm pretty sure you need the PS version of the game to do that.

Fighting "monsters" like in Bloodborne similar to DMC doesn't really appeal that much to me.

I enjoy the stuff in GoW, I just finished GoW 3 and now started 2018. I wanna try a gun type action adventure similar to GTA V kinda. Hitman 2 and the trailer for 3 appealed to me. It's nice I can play 1 first. I played MGSV for the first time this year also. Extremely loving the game choices.

The initial plan was for Hitman to go purely episodic but after the backlash (when frankly Hitman works just fine in that format)

So the three games that have and will release on the PS4/Xbox One are all collectively "Hitman: World of Assassination" but they have been segmented.

Not a reboot and the old games come up more than you would expect in this one, and if you own one title you can then get those maps in the "sequel"

So for instance when Hitman 3 releases someone who purchased the previous titles and expansions will be able to play every level in Hitman 3, and if they completed it all in Hitman 2 all of their progress and unlocked content will carry over.

Does that mean once I get the game if I am to get 3 in 2021 I should keep 2 after I beat it for PS4?

If you get the physical copy yes. You'll likely use the disc to verify the bonus DLC for Hitman 3.

If it's digital you have no need to worry. All of the content you own and unlocked will be playable in 3.

From what I remember a few months before Hitman 2 released they patched in an upload data option into the original game, so it will probably work the same way.
