Pre-ordered the game on Walmart's website. It shipped and was delivered today (after being stuck on "processing" for the past two days). I go to my mail box to retrieve it, and the bubble packing envelope is there but with a huge tear in the side and empty inside. No game.

Tried getting ahold of the post office but they were already closed for the day. Not sure what to do in this situation? I can try getting ahold of Walmart.com but not sure if they'll buy the story. Also I have no way of knowing if this was done pre-shipment, rather in warehouse or mailing, or if someone went into my mailbox in between the time it was delivered to when I grabbed it? If that was the case though, I'm guessing they would have just taken the whole package, not open it right there and leave me the empty package. Unless they just wanted to taunt me.

Feels bad man. People suck.

Definitely will be investigating it. This was just within the last 30 min, and the local post office closed at 5. I'm thinking that it almost would have had to be shipped that way. Any thief who went into my mailbox would have more than likely just taken the entire envelope. So yeah, I'm going to get ahold of my mailman tomorrow and will be getting ahold of Walmart.com customer service.

Damn, that sucks. I would try to get in contact with walmart's support line, and explain the situation in detail. Same with whoever delivered the package, ups/usps/fedex. Filing a police report will probably get you nowhere sadly.

If you don't have a prior history of always requesting refunds, then walmart will most likely easily give you a refund for your game. As far as the game itself goes, yeah, you are most likely beat since that thing went rare the moment nintendo announced that they will discontinue it eventually.

The situation you just went through is the exact reason why I still continue to go to my local gamestop or best buy and preorder in person for all my gaming needs...I don't really trust the people in my neighborhood like that despite living here for over 30 years, =/

it's either "the mailman" who delivered the package or someone in the neighborhood decided to use a letter opener and take the contents of the package.

think someone on CE invested into a hidden camera just for his mailbox so it wouldn't happen again.
wanting to see how this ends as it does suck (have faced lost mail but never package theft).

edit: might be able to get ahold of the post office by tomorrow if they didn't reduce the hours otherwise monday.

As always, it depends on where you live. In my area/south carolina, its sold out in walmart (the only copy I see is via a online 3rd party store for 79.99), target, gamestop in a 50 mile radius, and best buy. Gamestop's and target's online store has some (along with amazon) but that won't help the TC since he ordered from walmart.

Hopefully walmart just gives him the refund so he can get it from somewhere else.

I order from online (amazon mostly) fairly often and have a good track record with deliveries and non-theft. So yeah this situation definitely stands out.

Had a chat with Walmart.com and they're going to refund the order. So at least I'll get my money back. But still just an inconvenience.

Yeah, I live in a smaller town near St Louis MO on the IL side of the river. The only big retail store near my hometown is a Walmart, and they didn't get any copies in. So if I wanted a store copy, I'd have to travel 30 or so miles closer to St Louis to find a store.

That, plus the fact this is a limited release, is why I ordered online in the first place. But now I'm thinking about just waiting and trying to find a physical copy in store somewhere in the future.
